A dental veneer is a thin, porcelain moulding customised to cover the front of a tooth. Each porcelain veneer is bonded onto the front of a tooth to create an aesthetically pleasing smile.

Porcelain veneers have a variety of different applications. They can cover unattractive gaps between teeth, mask stains and discolouration, and conceal misshapen or crooked teeth. Patients love the dramatic and almost instantaneous transformation that a tooth veneer can make to their smile.

Dental veneers have become the go to solution for a picture perfect glittering smile and confidence boost. Being the “Elite Preferred Provider”, Pt Chevalier Dental is the perfect place to achieve the dream smile. The extensive experience of cosmetic dentistry allows Dr Patel to have the expertise to get the best results for his patients.

Expert answers to your questions

Everyone wants a movie star smile but few people realize just how easy is it to achieve a flawless smile thanks to cosmetic dentistry. The majority of those coveted movie star smiles are achieved with veneers, many of which were created right here in our surgery. When completed by a trustworthy expert aesthetic dentist, porcelain laminate veneers can provide an instant smile makeover like no other method can.

Porcelain dental veneers are a beautiful way to straighten, improve, and whiten stained, chipped, or crooked teeth. By placing “life-like” ultra-thin ceramic porcelain on the surface of teeth, Dr Patel delivers bright, straight, and natural-looking smiles. Our veneers are fabricated by the top specialised ceramicists at the best dental laboratories in the country.

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells typically made of porcelain or composite resin that are designed to cover the front surface of a tooth. They are used to improve the appearance of teeth by addressing various cosmetic issues. Veneers can be an effective solution for a range of dental imperfections, including:

  • Discolouration: Veneers can be used to cover teeth that are severely stained or discoloured and do not respond well to teeth whitening procedures.
  • Chips and cracks: They can hide minor chips and cracks in teeth, restoring a more uniform appearance.
  • Gaps between teeth: Veneers can be used to close small gaps or spaces between teeth, providing a more even smile.
  • Misalignment: In cases where teeth are mildly misaligned or crooked, veneers can be used to create the appearance of a straighter smile without the need for orthodontic treatment.
  • Irregularly shaped teeth: Veneers can be used to reshape teeth that are too short, too long, or have an irregular shape.

The process of getting dental veneers typically involves several steps:

  1. Consultation: Your dentist will evaluate your dental health and discuss your cosmetic goals to determine if veneers are a suitable option for you.
  2. Preparation: A small amount of enamel is usually removed from the front surface of the tooth to make room for the veneer. The amount of enamel removed is minimal, usually about 0.5 to 1.0 millimetres.
  3. Impressions: After the tooth is prepared, your dentist will take scan impressions of your teeth. These impressions are used to create custom veneers that fit your teeth perfectly.
  4. Temporary veneers: Temporary veneers may be placed on your teeth while the permanent veneers are being fabricated in a dental lab. These temporary veneers protect the prepared teeth and provide an opportunity for you to preview the final result.
  5. Placement: Once the permanent veneers are ready, your dentist will remove the temporary ones (if used) and bond the custom-made veneers to your teeth using a special adhesive. They will make any necessary adjustments to ensure a proper fit and a natural appearance.

Dental veneers are known for their durability and natural appearance. They can provide a long-lasting solution for improving the aesthetics of your smile, but they do require proper oral hygiene and care to maintain their appearance over time. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene practices are essential to ensure the longevity of dental veneers.

Having your smile made over with veneers at Hunters Corner Dental usually takes about three visits. Utilising Dr Patel’s own specialised technique, your new smile begins with a consultation visit.

During this first visit, Dr Patel will begin to design your new beautiful smile. Together with your help, he will determine what size, shape, and brightness will best complement your smile, face structure, and most importantly your aesthetic desires. An initial scan digital impression and photos are then taken of the face and teeth.

Using advanced photography and state-of-the-art computer technology, a smile simulation will be created. A slide show and still photos showing before and simulated-after images will be available in the office to review within hours of your first meeting with Dr Patel.

Patients love enhancing their smiles with dental veneers. Here are some of the reasons why:

  • The veneers process only generally requires visits to our surgery.
  • Porcelain veneers are composed of a biocompatible material
  • Most of the natural tooth is conserved during the placement of a dental veneer
  • Veneers for teeth are incredibly natural-looking
  • Often little or NO tooth reduction or preparation is required for perfect results.

Porcelain dental veneers last an average of 10 to 15 years but with exceptional care and maintenance they can last a lifetime. To keep your dental veneers in good shape treat them like the rest of your teeth by brushing, flossing, and visiting your dentist for routine checkups. Lastly, avoid biting or tearing hard, non-edible objects with your dental veneers.

Porcelain veneers have the potential to last a lifetime! Veneers for teeth are durable. They are highly resistant to staining and chipping.

The patient’s job is to carefully maintain their veneers. Keep up with your daily flossing and brushing, and see our hygienist at least twice each year.

Now is the time to break bad habits like nail biting or pencil biting. Chewing on hard objects could damage your veneers just like they damage your teeth. In fact we generally say it takes as much force to break a porcelain veneer as it does a natural tooth.

We only use the highest quality porcelain made by our laboratary and to further enhance our results we have our dental lab technician to customize each and every porcelain veneer to perfection. A brand new smile is waiting for you at Hunters Corner Dental

The cost of dental veneers are case-dependent and will vary based on each patient’s specific needs and on the number and type of dental veneers needed. While cosmetic dental procedures are generally not covered by dental insurance, partial benefits may be available if the teeth are broken or have previous dental fillings, bonding, or crowns.

Please ask about our financing plans; when extensive dental care is necessary or when dental insurance is involved, financial arrangements can be made with our office manager.

It is generally advisable to wait until your teeth have settled into their final positions before receiving dental veneers. For most people this means waiting until you are at least 18 years of age.

Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped ceramic that covers your existing tooth. They are bonded onto the tooth to redesign and reshape your teeth and smile. It is generally indicated for misaligned teeth, severely discoloured teeth or, broken or chipped teeth.
